Framed Woodcut Fern Leaf

This gorgeous intricate woodcut picture was designed from a photo of a fern leaf that I took whilst on holiday in Cornwall in the summer of 2020. As soon as I took the photo i knew how I wanted the piece to look.

The relief of the fern has been cut into a lightweight Poplar veneer ply. The wood is 3mm thick so keeps ts structure nicely. This relief has then been painted white, and fixed to a wood backing that has been painted black. The monochrome contrast of the leaf is really incredibly striking.

This woodcut has then been mounted into a black box frame, 305 x 405mm x 35mm. The frame moulding has been produced from recycled polystyrene.

This a really stunning picture and will sit nicely in a lovely clean bright space.
